Primary 1 have been learning about special events as part of their All About Me topic, and they were delighted to take part in their very own birthday party role-play. The children loved stepping into different roles as they planned and enjoyed the celebration together, developing confidence, communication and imagination through meaningful play.
As part of the experience, the class used their fine motor skills to make bright paper chains to decorate the party area. They also explored early maths concepts such as area while wrapping birthday presents, carefully deciding how much paper they needed for each gift. Throughout the week, the children had wonderful writing opportunities as they decorated paper plates and made thoughtful birthday cards.
This playful approach helped Primary 1 build their literacy, numeracy and practical skills in an enjoyable and engaging way. It was a fantastic celebration of learning and creativity!
