P7 Woodworking at the Hairtlan’ Hub

28th Nov 2025

Our P7 pupils have been taking part in an amazing woodworking project at the Hairtlan’ Hub, supported by the Schomberg Society. This hands-on course has given them the chance to learn practical skills in a safe and supportive environment — from sawing and measuring to drilling, sanding, and chiselling.

Over the weeks, the pupils have put these skills into practice by creating their very own wooden games. The finished pieces are fantastic and a real credit to their hard work and creativity!

We were delighted that some of our pupils had the opportunity to showcase their projects to our Deputy First Minister and MLA Diane Forsythe. As part of the visit, we were also treated to a beautiful reading of “A Wee Spot Caal’d Mourne” by the talented Wendy Hanna.

A huge thank you to Rodney McKee for organising the project, the team at the Hairtlan’ Hub for their guidance, and the Schomberg Society for making this brilliant learning experience possible. At KPS, we love taking learning beyond the classroom — and this project has been a perfect example of that!
